Harrells Hardy Plants
The home of rare and unusual
Hardy Perennials
We welcome visitors at any time by arrangement or on
Sundays 10am – 12noon
Summer
Show 14th August 12:30pm – 4pm
We
continue to add pictures to names on our website whenever we can spare the time
and as well as the plants on this list we have many, many more varieties, some
rare, some interesting, some unusual, that we have either propagated since the
list was produced or we hold in too small a number to be included – or are too
large to be posted and therefore only available to callers. This includes a
range of shrubs and bamboos. All our plants grow in ordinary garden soils
in sun/part shade unless otherwise stated and most can be seen growing in the
nursery garden.
In spite
of our nursery name, we occasionally have plants which aren’t hardy- not many-
just a very few. For example, Aeonium “Zwartkop” needs a cold greenhouse to
survive, many Salvias aren’t hardy unless you can offer a really sheltered
spot and a favourite here, Plectranthus Silver Shield isn’t the slightest bit
hardy and a hint of a frost kills it stone dead! It will however survive the
winter as a houseplant and returns to the garden for summer.
